S.A. Damm implements electronic voting in union elections
More participation at a lower cost
For a company like Damm, with a significant number of sites and a large number of workers, organizing a union election using physical ballot boxes and paper envelopes was difficult. Setting up traveling tables not only represents a cost, it is also a headache for the organizers. In addition, workers have to travel to them and sometimes end up not exercising their right to vote because of the inconvenience this entails.
Thanks to Kuorum's technology, Damm's employees were able to access the vote via email, from any device and without having to travel. The average time spent by each employee to exercise their right to vote was reduced and the participation of those who were working remotely or on the road during election day was facilitated.
Once voting was completed, the results were ready within minutes. Electronic voting avoids errors during the count and speeds up this process, allowing polling station members, staff and union officials to finish their day without delay.
A turnkey service
The digitization of a union election has many advantages for all involved. However, it is important that there is a consensus between the members of the polling station, the union representatives and the people management. That is why all of them were involved in the project from the stages prior to contracting the service.
In a first meeting, the technical and legal aspects of the process were explained. Once the security screening was completed, tests were carried out to confirm that everything was working correctly. Afterwards, the labor census was purged and uploaded to the voting platform. On the day of the vote, the call was launched and all employees were provided with a support telephone number to resolve any doubts they might have.
The members of the polling station had a dedicated agent who was attentive to the process throughout the day, informed them about the evolution of the turnout and sent reminders to those who had not yet voted when the polling station deemed it appropriate.
Streamlining collective decision making
By digitizing its union elections, Damm was able to reduce the costs associated with a traditional ballot. This alternative encouraged greater participation among the company's employees and speeded up the vote count.
It has also been demonstrated that online voting is a sustainable and environmentally friendly option, since it eliminates the need to use physical materials and reduces CO2 emissions. On the other hand, it facilitates the participation of people with functional diversity, providing them with a more accessible way to vote.
