The case of the SFA

The Spanish Association of Foundations (SFA) is a private organization that brings together over 900 Spanish foundations from various fields and sectors. It is the most significant entity in its sector in Spain and the second most prominent in Europe.

The primary objective of the SFA is to represent and defend the interests of foundations, while also enhancing their professionalism and management. Transparency, innovation and good governance are their main values and they achieve their goals with those in hand.

The SFA constantly consults its organizations on key decisions. Additionally, they regularly hold General Assemblies, where they choose their Board of Directors, review budgets or discuss some important issues which concern them.

Hybrid AGMs are now easier

Given the large size of the organization, both in terms of members and geographical reach– as it encompasses foundations from different regions of Spain, organizing in-person meetings could be quite challenging.To overcome this, they chose the hybrid model for their Assemblies, where attendance is mandatory.

After having used other platforms which were a bit more complicated, they chose Koorum to implement the attendance confirmation.

By the incorporation of Zoom into the Assembly, the SFA was able to track in real time, where participants were attending online or in person. For those who came to the Assembly, as they were sent a QR, they could confirm their presence as they entered the venue.

All this process was very simple. The SFA team assisted the ones who needed help through the voting, both before, during and after the Assembly. It was not necessary to use other platforms in the process.

Electronic voting for all

During the SFA’s AGM there were people of all ages taking part, some of them with no mobile phones. This fact didn’t stop them from participating in the voting process.
